Hawks drop matches to Heidelberg and NYU

ROCHESTER, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team dropped their first two matches yesterday at the Nazareth College Tournament.  The Hawks fell to Heidelberg 3-1 and to NYU 3-2.

In the Heidelberg game, the Hawks fell by the scores of 20-25, 25-21, 23-25, 19-25.  Stephanie Skrobach led the Hawks with 17 kills and Alison Kiernan added 16 kills.  Stephanie Bova handed out 45 assists and five Hawk players recored at least ten digs.

In the NYU game, the Hawks fell 23-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 14-16.  Melinda DiGiovanna led the Hawks with 16 kills and Alison Kiernan added 12 kills.  Stephanie Bova handed out 48 assists and Loren Crabbe led the Hawks with 22 digs.  DiGiovanna added 20 digs and Priska Wilson finished the game wih 16 digs.

The Hawks fall to 2-4 overall and finish up round robin play today at 12 pm against Fredonia.  At 2 pm, the teams will be seeded 1-4 based on pool play and the teams will compete against the opposite pool of the same seed.
