Hawks Soar Past Cardinals 3-0

The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team hosted York College Wednesday night and swept the Cardinals 3-0 (30-11, 30-13, 30-20) for their third consecutive win. The Hawks improve to 8-4 on the season, while York falls to 3-8.

Senior Jake Moore (Cortlandt Manor/Hendrick Hudson) totaled 11 kills on 17 attempts with one error to hit .588 on the night, to go with five service aces, five digs and three blocks. First year middle-hitter Kevin Stross (Port Washington/Schreiber) tallied 10 kills on 13 attempts with one error to produce a .692 hitting percentage. Senior Mark Blair (Point Pleasant, NJ) registered seven kills and two aces while sophomore setter Andrew Cassius (Brooklyn/Midwood) handed out 25 assists. The Hawks hit .436 on the night with 14 aces and five blocks.

New Paltz returns to action this weekend when they travel to Rochester for the Nazareth Tournament. The Hawks face Nazareth in their first match at 2pm on Friday, following by UCSC at 4pm.
