The School of Business at the State University of New York at New Paltz will host a panel discussion titled “Give Me a Tax Break!” targeting small businesses from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, in Lecture Center 102 on campus. This event is made possible by a generous donation from KeyBank.
Local tax experts, including CPAs and accounting faculty, as well as representatives from the Internal Revenue Services and New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, will present information on the current tax laws that are relevant to small businesses.
Panelists include: Richard J. Joyce, revenue officer, Internal Revenue Service; Tracy L. Badgley, CPA, manager, Levitan Yegidis & Associates LLP; Scott Krouner, legislative assistant, Office of Legislative Affairs, NYS Department of Taxation & Finance; Alan Marks, CPA, managing partner, Stanley Marks & Company LLP; Don Furman, Ph.D., assistant professor of Finance & Accounting, SUNY New Paltz; and Karen L. Staples, CPA, partner, Vanacore, DeBenedictus, DiGovanni & Weddell LLP. The panel will be moderated by A. Rief Kanan, MS, CPA, accounting faculty, SUNY New Paltz.

For this discussion, the School of Business is collaborating with the Chamber of Commerce of Ulster County; Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation; Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce; Mid-Hudson Small Business Development Center; New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce; The Council of Industry of Southeastern New York; and Ulster County Development Corporation.
