Women’s Volleyball Defeats Clarkson, Falls to Skidmore

The women’s volleyball team traveled to Skidmore tonight for the first day of the Skidmore Invitational and defeated Clarkson 3-2 (25-12, 17-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-10) and fell to Skidmore 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 27-25, 25-23).

New Paltz won the last two sets for the comeback win over the Golden Knights.  Senior Samantha Prudente led the Hawks with a game-high 15 kills, and junior setter Stephanie Bova contributed 41 assists in the win.  Senior Nicole Mercadente added 19 digs while sophomore Dana Kindelmann finished with three blocks.

Skidmore won a hard fought third set and took the momentum into the final set to take the 3-1 win over the fourth ranked team in the NCAA New York Region.  Prudente had 15 kills and 23 assists and Mercadente chipped in 25 digs for the Hawks.

The Hawks return to action on Saturday against Ramapo at 2pm and Union at 4pm.
