New Paltz women’s soccer upsets Plattsburgh, 3-1

NEW PALTZ, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team upset Plattsburgh Friday evening 3-1.

The Hawks opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Rebecca Devlin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) crossed the ball and was kneed in by Emily Buckner (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) for her first goal of the season and to put the Hawks up 1-0.

In the 61st minute, Plattsburgh Megan Rivage crossed the ball and found Lindsey Keyser to tie the contest at 1-1.

Two minutes later the Hawks took the lead when Jennifer Anselmi (North Rockland, NY/North Rockland) crossed the ball and was back heeled in by Kate Addiss (Amherst, NY/Amherst) for her third goal of the season and the 2-1 lead.

In the 90th minute, Addiss took the ball and drew both defenders to her and found Elana Jaroff (Old Westbury, NY/The Wheatley School) wide open for her fifth goal on the season and to secure the win 3-1.

Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) made eight saves in net for the win and improves New Paltz to 6-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in SUNYAC competition.

Kathryn Lind made three saves in the loss for the Cardinals. Plattsburgh falls to 10-2-1 overall and 4-2 in SUNYAC competition.

SUNY New Paltz returns to the field tomorrow against Potsdam at 1 p.m.
