New Paltz men’s soccer falls to Plattsburgh, 3-0

PLATTSBURGH, NY- The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer fell to host Plattsburgh by the score of 3-0 Friday evening.

The Cardinals and the Hawks played to a 0-0 half.

The Cardinals scored the first goal in the 56th minute when Joshua Cookfair found Pat Shaughnessy for the goal for the 1-0 lead. Then in the 62nd minute, Cookfair found Noel Tipovski for the goal and the 2-0 lead.

In the 79th minute, Ryan Ormsby found Shaughnessy for his second goal of the night and the 3-0.

Lucas Natel (Mineola, NY/Mineola) led the Hawks with two shots, but just could not find the back of the net.

Patrick Carlucci (Goshen, NY/Goshen) tallied six saves in net and the loss falls New Paltz to 4-7-2 overall and 1-5 in SUNYAC competition.

John San Filippo made four saves for the win and improves Plattsburgh to 10-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in SUNYAC competition.

New Paltz returns to the field tomorrow against Potsdam at 1 p.m. on the SUNY Potsdam campus.
