Brooklyn Knocks off Men’s Basketball 84-75

NEW YORK, NY — The men’s basketball team traveled to New York, NY tonight to face Brooklyn College and lost by a score 84-75.
New Paltz trailed by as many as 11 in the first half with six minutes to remaining. The Hawks outscored Brooklyn 15-6 over the next four minutes to bring the game to within two before the 38-34 intermission. In the second half, the Hawks trailed 58-53 with 10:44 left, but they would come no closer. Brooklyn outscored New Paltz 21-8 over the next eight minutes before the final nine point margin.
Kyle Nelson paced the Hawks with 19 points on 7-11 from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds. Senior Jimmy Sugrue finished with 16 points, including 4-6 from the behind the arc and Brian Kuar chipped in with 11 points off the bench. Sophomore Lee Bertram scored seven points and hauled down eight boards, while Matt Hauser finished with eight points, five rebounds and five assists.
New Paltz falls to 6-11 on the season and will return to action on Friday when they host Potsdam at 8:00 pm.
