Bertram Posts Double-Double in Loss to Oneonta

ONEONTA, NY — The men’s basketball team traveled to Oneonta tonight and fell to the Red Dragons 75-54. The Hawks drop to 6-8 on the season and 2-5 in SUNYAC play.
The Hawks led early in the game at 10-9 before Oneonta went on a 13-0 run over the next 7:20 to open the game. New Paltz battled back to within six on a layup by Kyle Nelson at 27-21 with over two minutes left in the first half. The Red Dragons netted the next five points for the 32-21 intermission. Oneonta maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second stanza and reached a 21-point bulge with just under five minutes to go en route to the 75-54 final.
Sophomore Lee Bertram led the Hawks with a double-double, scoring 20 points and hauling down a career and game high 13 boards. Nelson finished with 14 points on 7-12 from the floor. Jimmy Sugrue added nine points and Matt Hauser handed out seven assists.
New Paltz returns to the court on Friday January 25th when they travel to Cortland for an 8:00 pm conference match-up.
