2007 Women’s Soccer Recap

NEW PALTZ, NY — In 2007, the team finished with a 7-6-6 record. The Hawks posted a record of 5-3-3 in SUNYAC and were defeated in the first round of the playoffs by Plattsburgh. The game officially ended as a 1-1 tie following double-overtime but New Paltz was eventually eliminated on penatly kicks (4-3). Senior defender Kelly Amendola, sophomore defender Jennifer Moretti and junior goalkeeper Sarah Boccard all made the All-SUNYAC second team. The Hawks were anchored all season long by a strong defense. Boccard recorded eight shutouts on the season and allowed an average of 1.09 goals per game. She recorded 120 saves on the season. Amendola scored two goals while holding down the defensive side of the field. Moretti finished the season with seven goals, two of which were game winners. Junior midfielder Jennifer Anselmi made the All-SUNYAC third team and contributed seven points as well. Overall the team is graduating just five seniors. Coach Colleen Bruley will have much of the same team next year for the 2008 season.
