2007 Women’s Volleyball Recap

NEW PALTZ, NY — In 2007, the team posted a 27-12 record, finished 8-2 in the SUNYAC regular season. The Hawks were second in the SUNYAC East division, defeating Geneseo in the first round before falling to Fredonia in the semifinal match. Senior Katie Becofsky was selected to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team for her effort. Becofsky was named the SUNYAC East Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, centered the attack with 1,269 assists and 425 digs. Senior Kim Braga was selected to the All-SUNYAC East first team as she led New Paltz with 386 kills and 75 blocks. Juniors Nicole Mercadante and Samantha Prudente earned All-SUNYAC East second team honors. Mercadante contributed 481 digs, while Prudente netted 256 kills and 383 digs. Junior Amanda Brown led the team with 53 service aces and sophomore Brittany Coyle had a team high 79 blocks. The team set new records for most kills in a season with 1,882 and most assists with 1,638.
