AMA Lends Hand at 2006 Ulster County Chamber of Commerce Business to Business Showcase

STONE RIDGE, NY — On Friday, September 29th, members of the SUNY New Paltz chapter of the American Marketing Association attended an all-day business showcase held on the SUNY Ulster campus. The event featured over one hundred local businesses and attracted over 2,000 visitors. Twenty two student volunteers from SUNY New Paltz, including three Executive Board members and nine general members were in attendance to volunteer. Duties included manning booths throughout the day and helping to generate sales leads for participating businesses. This opportunity was not only helpful for business representatives, but also for the students, who gained tradeshow experience and also had the option of receiving academic credit. The hard work of the volunteers did not go unnoticed. As a result of networking opportunities with vendors, two students were offered internships by the end of the showcase. On October 20th, the student volunteers will be honored for their work by the Chamber of Commerce at a recognition breakfast attended by over two hundred local business owners.
