Women’s Volleyball Collects Two More Wins

DANBURY, CT — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks Volleyball team competed in a tri-match this afternoon at Western Connecticut State along with Westfield State.

New Paltz took the first match 3-0 against Western Connecticut (30-16, 30-16, 30-22). Kim Clouston (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville, NY) led the Hawks with 11 kills on 27 attempts and nine digs. First year middle hitter, Brittany Coyle (Minisink Valley/Middletown) tallied eight kills on 14 attempts, while Katie Becofsky (Schalmont/Altamont) dished out 21 assists.

In the second match of the day, New Paltz defeated Westfield State in a hard fought five games (27-30, 30-17, 30-23, 25-30, 18-16). Clouston led the way again with 17 kills and 23 digs. Outside hitter, Amanda Brown (South Glen Falls) collected 14 kills on 30 attempts for the Hawks and recorded 17 digs. Lauren Hogue (Burnt Hills Ballston Lake/Burnt Hills) finished with 13 kills and 11 digs. Becofsky handed out 63 assists and 19 digs, while Nicole Mercadante (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville, NY) tallied a team high 31 digs.

New Paltz advances to 5-3 on the season and will return to action on Friday, September 15th when they host the annual two day Hawk Invite beginning at 4 p.m.
