NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team lost to the New York University Violets in a non-conference match this afternoon.
Hawks junior Eri Yamakawa (Eastchester, NY) defeated Stephanie Tu (Greenvale, NY), 6-3, 1-6, 10-8, and senior Jennifer Larson (Port Jervis, NY) defeated Hayley McLaughlin (Plano, TX) 6-4, 6-0.
The Violets were too much on the doubles side as Erika Olson (Carlsbad, CA) and Katie Lee downed Yamakawa, and Liz Beirne (Moriches, NY) in a close match 9-7. McLaughlin and Holly Smith (Troy, MI) downed Larson and Katherine Ketigian (Garden City, NY) 8-3. Lindsey Lovinger (Miller Place, NY) and Kerri Serkes (Massapequa, NY) fell to Bianca Nicolletti (Brooklyn, NY) and Britt Swenson (Wayzata, MN) 5-8.
The team returns to action on Wednesday, October 4th when they host Vassar at 4:00pm.
