NEW PALTZ — The Graduate School at the State University of New York at New Paltz is now offering a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling that meets New York’s educational requirements for mental health counseling licensure.
The 48-credit program serves both students looking to become licensed as mental health counselors and those seeking to eventually proceed into doctoral programs.
Degree requirements cover a core curriculum and specialization courses. Three required fieldwork courses provide unique, varied and intense hands-on mental health counseling training experiences under supervision of licensed professionals.
“The Graduate School is pleased to offer this carefully designed, cutting edge program that focuses on the prevention and control of mental health disorders and impairments,” said Laurel Garrick Duhaney, associate provost and dean of the Graduate School. “We have a dynamic and excellent faculty who will execute this master’s degree program that’s aimed at preparing well-qualified students for mental health counseling practice.”
