Hawks Field Hockey is Shutout by TCNJ

EWING, NJ — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks field hockey team fell to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) 7-0 on Saturday, September 9. The Hawks were shutout as the Lions defense didn’t allow one shot.

TCNJ didn’t waste any time getting the offense in gear scoring on its first shot of the game as Allison Greene (Atco, NJ/Hammonton) knocked in a pass from Jess Berkowitz (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) 2:06 into the contest.The Lions continued to score and the lead grew to 5-0 by the half.

In the second half, TCNJ tacked on two more goals to finish the scoring. In goal for the Lions, Erin Mitschke (Boonton Township, NJ/Mountain Lakes) and Amy Drackwicz (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) shared the shutout for the Lions.

Hawk goalie Jess Malone (Congers, NY) finished with 13 saves.

The Hawks return to action on Wednesday, September 13 when they travel to Vassar to take on the Brewers in a 4 p.m. start.
