Hawks Drop 2-1 Decision to St. Joe’s

PATCHOGUE, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision this afternoon in a non-conference match-up to St. Joe’s (LI).

The Golden Eagles took a 2-0 halftime lead. The first goal came at the 23:52 mark, when Jessica Durant scored off a pass from Jackie Barbour. Barbour then tallied what would be the game winning goal at 19:30 as she headed the ball into the net off a cross from Alyssa Cote.

Senior Kerri Kelty (Valley Stream) scored the loan goal for the Hawks at 39:40 of the second half on a breakaway with the assist being credited to Jennifer Anselmi (North Rockland).

The Hawks held a 7-5 shot advantage and a 5-2 corner kick margin. Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville) posted two saves in goal for the Hawks as New Paltz falls to 1-2-1 on the season.

New Paltz will host their home opener on Wednesday, September 13th against the Vassar Brewers in a 4 p.m. start.
