Cross Country Men Finish 4th, Women Claim 6th

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s cross-country teams competed at the Vassar Invitational this morning with the men’s team claiming a fourth place finish and the women coming in sixth.

SUNY New Paltz men’s cross-country team finished 4th out of 10 teams in the 8K course and were paced by first year Robert Grazier (West Islip) who crossed with a time of 31:14. Nick Avello (Averill Park/West Sand Lake) finished next at 31:43. Parker Ince (Riverhead/Jamesport) and Sean Brown (Hendrick Hudson/ Verplanck) finished with times of 32:11 and 32:42, respectively. Also scoring in the top five for the Hawks was senior Harry Sudswischer (Copiague) with a time of 32:51.

Sophmore Stephanie Albinski (Commack) led the women’s team in the 5K course with an eleventh place finish in a time of 20:40. Crossing exactly one minute later (21:40) was first year Lisa Cassaro (West Islip). Senior Kelly Dunphy (Hauppauge) finished with a time of 22:01. Tara McGorry (East Islip) was close behind crossing at 22:09 and rounding out the scoring five was junior Christie Carlstrom (Newburgh Free/Newburgh) in a time of 22:31.

The Hawks are back in action next weekend Saturday, September 16 when they travel to the NYU Invitational.
