SUNY New Paltz Women’s Tennis Team Closes Out Season with a 5-4 Loss to Ramapo

MAHWAH, NJ — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-4 loss to Ramapo. The Hawks finished with an 8-2 record and the Roadrunners improved to 14-3.

Junior Kerry Farrell (Rockville Centre, NY) and freshman Jen Larson (Port Jervis, NY) were both double winners for the Hawks. The duo teamed up to beat the pair of freshmen Jennifer Murphy (Whiting, NJ) and Hollis Grant (East Brunswick, NJ) at number one doubles, 8-5. Farrell won the number one singles match, 7-5, 6-4, over junior Andrea Testa (West Orange, NJ) and Larson won her match at number four singles, 6-3, 6-3, over Grant.

New Paltz earned their fourth win of the match when sophomore Sara Goldstein (Merrick, NY) defeated sophomore Josie Tripodi (Cliffside Park, NJ) 7-5, 6-3, at number three singles.

Ramapo captured the number two and three doubles and the second, fifth, and six singles flights to earn their five points in the victory.
