Gorman Leads 15th Ranked Cortland Past Hawks

CORTLAND, NY — Sara Gorman (Lindenhurst, NY) scored five times in the first half to lead the nationally ranked Cortland women’s lacrosse team past New Paltz 20-2.

The Red Dragons scored the first eight goals of the game in the first 13 minutes of action before sophomore Mary Warren (Mineola, NY) scored for the Hawks to stop the run. Cortland would score six more times in the half for a 14-1 lead at the break.

In the second half, freshman Theresa Hayes (Ballston Lake, NY) opened the scoring with her second goal of the season at the 5:12 mark. The Red Dragons countered with six unanswered goals for the 20-2 final margin.

The Hawks will return to action Friday at Dietz Stadium in Kingston at 7:00 p.m. against league rival Oneonta.
