New Paltz Gets First Conference Victory

POTSDAM, NY — Senior Silver Williams (Newburgh, NY) and sophomores Kim Weigel (Whitestone, NY), and Tarah Noirris (Port Jervis, NY) combined for 53 of the Hawks’ 64 points Friday as New Paltz defeated Potsdam 64-54 for their first SUNYAC win of the season.

The Hawks have now won three of their last four games and stand at 6-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference. The Bears slip to 0-6 in the SUNYAC and 1-14 overall.

Williams finished with a game-high 21 points and added nine rebounds for the winners while Weigel ended the game with 19 points and Norris finished with 13 points and nine boards.

Kristina Koncewicz (Forrest Hills, NY) was the Bears’ high scorer with 14.

New Paltz plays again tomorrow at Plattsburgh State at 2:00 p.m.
