Hawks Compete at NYC Armory With Division I Field

NEW YORK, NY – — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams competed in the New York Elite Invitational at the Armory Track & Field Center on Friday evening.

In a meet that featured several Division I schools including St. John’s, Syracuse, Rutgers, Army, Fordham and Marist, the Hawks set seven school records.

Musu Jackson-Buckner tied for 30th place in the 60 meters, but set a school record with a time of :8.25. Jackson-Buckner also established a New Paltz record in the 200 meters with a time of :27.10. She finished 31st in the event.

Marisa Ouranitsas was 22nd in the 500 meters with a school record time of 1:30.24.

The 4×400 meter relay team of Michelle Martinez, Amandine Blackime, Kate Choromanski and Maria Torise was 15th with a school record mark of 4:31.84.

In the long jump, Stephanie Ramsey set a school record with a mark of 16-feet, one inch to finish 20th.

On the men’s side, New Paltz school records fell in the 3K and the 200 meters. Phil Goodwin was 17th in the 3K event with a time of 4:29.49 while Andrew Hunsinger established a new standard in the 200 meters (23.81) and finished in a tie for 44th place.

Jennifer Hutchinson was 18th in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of :10.46. Dan Holton finished 14th in the 3000-meter event with a time of 9:05.89.

The New Paltz men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams will compete in the Dartmouth Invitational next Saturday (Feb. 1).
