Hawks Battle Geneseo to 2-2 Tie

NEW PALTZ — The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team battled Geneseo for 110 minutes with the game resulting in a 2-2 tie this afternoon.

New Paltz sophomore Michael Dodge (Holbrook, NY) scored off a corner kick by sophomore Chris Daly (Washingtonville, NY) in the 80th minute to pull the Hawks to 2-2.

Geneseo (5-2-2) took a 2-1 lead early in the second half when junior Domenico Marsocci (Rochester, NY) worked his way past two New Paltz defenders and beat Hawk goalkeeper Kevin Smith (Niskayuna, NY) to give the Knights the lead.

New Paltz sophomore Matt Daum (New Paltz, NY) opened the scoring in the 17th minute with his fifth goal of the season, giving the Hawks a 1-0 advantage. The Knights pulled even in the 40th minute when junior Brian Amick (Rochester, NY) headed the ball into the net following a shot by Marsocci and save by Smith.

New Paltz (2-7-1, 0-3-1) stopped a five-game losing streak.
