Hawks Tie Single-Season Record For Wins

NEW PALTZ — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team tied last season’s school record for wins (12) today with a 7-2 victory over Mount St. Mary. The Hawks are now 12-1 and have won 12 straight dual matches. The team will look to set a single-season record for wins on Wednesday against Vassar.

SUNY New Paltz swept the doubles competition and took four of six in singles play against the previously unbeaten Blue Knights. Becky Sparacin (Goshen, NY) won her 12th consecutive singles match without a loss, beating Trish Pilere 7-5, 6-1. Kerry Farrell also won her 12th straight match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Caroline Ferrero.

Doubles #1 Farrell/Sparacin (NP) defeated Ferrero/Pilere (MSM) 8-1. #2 Crevoiserat/Sara Goldstein (NP) defeated Woodruff/Cuenin (MSM) 8-5 #3 Lemanski/Jessica Smith (NP) defeated Acevedo/Stacey Mikulak 8-1.
