MTV Road Rules cast member speaks at alma mater

NEW PALTZ — Have you ever wanted to take a road trip of a lifetime or watched the MTV show Road Rules? If you watched last season’s show “The Quest,” you should know Sophia and Blair. The two cast members are on the road to the State University of New York at New Paltz for “Road Rules Invades New Paltz: An Evening with Sophia and Blair,” at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 6.

Sophia is a 24-year-old alumna from Elmont, NY who attended SUNY New Paltz from 1995 to 1998. Blair is 21 years old and originally from Louisianna. The two Road Rulers currently reside in California and will speak about how the show changed their lives.

For starters, Sophia offers some advice from her “Road Rules” experience: “You should believe in yourself and not put yourself through hell for someone else’s idea of heaven.”

The two cast members will also speak about issues that affect young people today, such as drugs and alcohol awareness, conflict management, and diversity. They will also devote time for questions from the audience.

The event is sponsored by Alumni Affairs and will take place at the Julien J. Studley Theatre. Seating is first come first serve and tickets will be available at the door. Tickets are $5 for all students with ID, $8 for alumni, and $10 for others.
