NEW HAVEN, CT — The New Paltz men’s volleyball team certainly hasn’t hid from playing the best this past week. The Hawks have gone to battle with the Juniata Eagles, the #3 ranked team in the country, the Division I St. Francis Red Flash and now the Division II New Haven Chargers.
New Haven defeated the Hawks 3-0 Tuesday for their second victory over the Hawks in less than a month. In their first meeting, it took four closely contested games for the Chargers to emerge victorious. On Tuesday though, New Haven needed just three games. The Hawks eventually succumbed to the hosts 30-26, 30-26, and 30-26. Michael La Rocco (Hauppauge, NY) led the Hawks in kills with 11 while Jason Karpf (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) was tops in assists with 16.
New Paltz will next travel to Buffalo for four matches in three days beginning Friday night. The Hawks will take on D’Youville, Medaille, #6 ranked Santa Cruz and #7 ranked Clarke.
