Women’s Basketball Streak Snapped By Undefeated Cortland

NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz led undefeated SUNYAC leader Cortland, ranked ninth in Division III, for virtually all of the first nine minutes before the Red Dragons went on 23-13 run to close the first half.

After halftime, New Paltz didn’t get closer than 10 points, as Cortland remained unbeaten, 82-65, on Saturday night at Elting Gymnasium.

New Paltz (6-6 overall, 5-5 SUNYAC) got a game-high 23 points from Britni Bishop, but four Cortland players reached double figures to snap the Hawks’ three-game win streak. The (12-0 overall, 9-0 SUNYAC) Red Dragons led by as many as 27 with 4:27 remaining in the contest.

The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, when they host Farmingdale for a 7 p.m. non-conference matchup.
