ORANGEBURG — SUNY New Paltz lost to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 15-10, 15-4, 15-10, in the semifinals of the Dominican College Women’s Volleyball Invitational on Saturday.
The (2-20) Hawks defeated New Jersey City University, 15-7, 15-2, 15-6, and lost to the host Chargers, 15-9, 15-13, 15-10, earlier in the day.
Against New Jersey City University, Ann Marie Carbone had nine kills, while teammates Sonia Mkoloma (six kills) and Nicole Older (five kills) also contributed.
In New Paltz’s two losses, Crystal Smith accumulated 11 kills and 33 digs, and Older tallied 18 digs in the Dominican match.
The Hawks are at Hunter College on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match.
