Field Hockey Falls To Union

SCHENECTADY — Two goals by Red Hook High graduate Yvonne Turchetti helped pace Union College past SUNY New Paltz, 4-0, in field hockey on Tuesday afternoon.

Turchetti, a junior defender, scored both (5-6) Dutchwomen goals in the second half, including the first on a penalty stroke. She also had an assist in the first half, to take over the team lead in scoring. For the season, Turchetti has seven goals and three assists.

Angela Dallas and Terra Lederhouse provided Union’s other two goals in the contest.

Meanwhile, New Paltz netminder Liz Clarke, a Rondout Valley High product and the ECAC Division III Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week the past two weeks, did her best to keep the (1-11) Hawks in the contest, making 17 saves in the loss.

New Paltz is at Elmira for a 1 p.m. match this Saturday.
