New Paltz Beats Western Connecticut

DANBURY, CONN. — Two players won twice, en route to a 6-3 SUNY New Paltz victory over Western Connecticut State in women’s tennis on Tuesday afternoon.

Jennifer Lipp and Sarah Schreiber each posted victories at both singles and doubles for New Paltz (5-8), which is starting to get on a roll, having now won two of its last three matches.

Meanwhile, at second singles, Rebecca Billow nearly pulled out the day’s longest match, losing in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 7-6, to the (2-4) Colonials’ Vickie Smith.

New Paltz hosts Mount St. Mary at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sixth Singles: Sarah Schreiber (NP) won by forfeit.

First Doubles: Kelly Harrigan/Vickie Smith (WCS) def. Rachel Murray/Tara Schinsing (NP), 8-4.

Second Doubles: Sarah Schreiber/Allison Schwille (NP) def. Heather Bowen/Jenn Shutek (WCS), 8-2.

Third Doubles: Rebecca Billow/Jennifer Lipp (NP) won by forfeit.
