Tennis Hawks Fall To Stevens Tech

HOBOKEN, NJ — Third singles player Rachel Murray was the lone winner for SUNY New Paltz on Sunday, as the Hawks fell to Stevens Institute of Technology, 8-1, in women’s tennis.

Murray, who was also the only New Paltz player to win a set against the unbeaten (8-0) Ducks, beat Varuna Sundaram in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.

And teammate Jennifer Lipp rebounded from a tough first set to force a 12th game in the second set, in losing at fourth singles, 6-1, 7-5, to Alicia Fox.

New Paltz (4-8) plays at Western Connecticut State at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
