Amoia Strong At ECAC Meet
SEWELL, NJ — SUNY New Paltz sophomore Jon Amoia finished 19th in the 200-yard Breaststroke at the ECAC Open Swimming and Diving Championships at Gloucester Institute of Technology on Saturday to close his stellar season.
Amoia, a Williamsville, NY native, finished the race in 2:12.80, and trailed only Division I competitors.
Last night, Amoia, the reigning ECAC Division III champion in the 100-yard Breaststroke, placed 13th in a school record time of 59.64, again finishing behind only higher division swimmers.
The three-day meet, which concludes later tonight, gives the East coast’s top Division I, II and III swimmers and divers an opportunity to compete directly against each other.
Amoia is a business major and a 1999 graduate of Williamsville South High School.
