American Marketing Association at New Paltz earns national recognition
NEW PALTZ – The State University of New York at New Paltz chapter of the American Marketing Association received awards at the organization’s 31st Annual Collegiate Conference, March 25-28, in New Orleans.
At the Collegiate Awards Program, New Paltz was one of four chapters to receive three national awards and place in the top 20 chapters overall. The American Marketing Association is a New Paltz School of Business student group.
The 146 colleges eligible to participate in the awards were judged on the quality of their strategic marketing plan and report – documents outlining their goals and accomplishments. The New Paltz chapter received awards in the areas of student professional development, community service and fundraising.
“The awards are especially noteworthy given that New Paltz was one of the smallest schools to place in the top 20,” said Ted Clark, School of Business professor and faculty adviser to the AMA.
Clark’s dedication to the group was rewarded, as well. He was appointed to the AMA International Collegiate Council based on his service to the organization and the success of the New Paltz chapter.
New Paltz chapter members who attended the conference with Clark were Bridgette Muller, a marketing student and chapter president; Victoria Mann, a marketing student and vice president of communications; Danielle LaRuffa, a marketing student and vice president of promotions; Tiffany Fox, a finance and marketing student and vice president of public relations; Seth Giurato, a marketing student and vice president of membership; Sean Reminick, a marketing student and vice president of fundraising; and Nate Danker, a management student and vice president of programming.
“We are very proud of our students and of Ted Clark, their advisor,” said Hadi Salavitabar, dean of the School of Business. “Their work is a reflection of the School of Business and their achievement in New Orleans shows the quality of education students receive at our school.”
