NEW PALTZ — The Management Association of the State University of New York at New Paltz is hosting the Student Development Day Conference from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 14, in the Student Union Building on the New Paltz campus. This conference is an all-day educational event that allows students to gain knowledge and skills to help assist in their career advancement.
Attendees receive the know-how necessary to promote themselves as students and potential employees. By taking part in workshops and educational exercises, students have the unique chance to network and learn from leaders in the fields of business, management, human resources, and communications.
Some of the workshops and speakers scheduled for the conference include: “Conversations about Ethics,” with Paul Eldridge, director of personnel of Putnam County; “Long-Term Career Planning,” with Caren Fairweather, president and life coach of Fairweather Coaching; “Thinking Outside-the-Box: Differentiating Yourself From the Crowd, Get the Job, and Start Down the Career Path You Deserve,” with Leo Garvey, manufacturers’ representative and proprietor of LFG Micro; “Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Interviewing But Were Afraid To Ask,” with Diane Schroeder, human resource director at Jim Waters Corp.
This event is presented by The Management Association (MA) and the SUNY New Paltz student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Ticket prices are $8.95, and include attendance at all workshops and lunch.
