KINGSTON — SUNY New Paltz recorded its first women’s lacrosse victory of the season, 11-2 over SUNYAC rival Buffalo State, in a constant downpour on Friday at Kingston’s Dietz Stadium.

Katie Sharp (one assist) scored three goals and Wallkill product Erin Scherf and Melissa Butterweich contributed two goals apiece, to lead New Paltz (1-10 overall, 1-6 SUNYAC). Jacqueline Bunzel, Jennifer Freud, Kim Lipiro and Patricia O’Connell each scored once in the contest.

Kathleen Plis and Katie Richelt scored for the (0-11 overall, 0-7 SUNYAC) Bengals, which played the entire contest with only 11 players due to academic commitments.
