Hawks Drop Season Finale To Steven’s Tech
NEW PALTZ — In the season finale for the New Paltz men’s volleyball team, the Hawks were defeated 3-1 to visiting Steven’s Tech.
The Hawks stormed out of the gates taking game one 30-27, but the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Champion Ducks stormed back to take the next three 30-25, 30-25, and 30-26 to earn their 15th consecutive win.
Brian Woodworth (San Jose, CA) and Chris Bock (Orlando, FL) led the Duck attack with 18 and 17 kills, respectively. Greg Higgins (Kenmore, NY) added 12 kills and David Byrne (Chelmsford, MA) contributed 10. Gerard Aro (Jersey City, NJ) finished the match with 52 assists.
For the Hawks, Chris Grunwald (St. James, NY) and Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) each had 13 kills in the match. Bryan Hartz (Ransomville, NY) added 11 kills and Kevin Buggs finished with 45 assists.
The Hawks end the season at 3-23 while the Ducks improve to 27-8 and prepare for the upcoming Molten Division III Championships Apr. 11-12.
