Stella Turk appointed Vice President for Enrollment Management
Stella Turk has been appointed Vice President for Enrollment Management at SUNY New Paltz, one year after she took on the role of Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management.
This appointment will position Turk to continue leading teams in Undergraduate Admission, International Admission, Records & Registration, Student Accounts, Student Success, Student Financial Services, the Scholars’ Mentorship Program, the Office of Veteran & Military Services, Special Sessions & Partner Programs, and Admission Technology.
“Stella Turk is a remarkably strong and experienced leader who brings 30+ years of administrative and faculty experience to this role,” said President Darrell P. Wheeler. “She is clearly and wholly committed to SUNY New Paltz, and the University is fortunate to have such an effective advocate for our students of today and our students of tomorrow.”
During her time as Interim Vice President, Turk worked to advance a number of important student recruitment and student success initiatives across the University. Highlights include the successful launch of the Take Flight student onboarding program; an expansion of Center of Student Success services; deployment of $935,000 in SUNY Transformational Funding to establish a new Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) program at New Paltz; expanded staffing in Veteran & Military Services, Scholars’ Mentorship Program and the Wooster Welcome Center; and the establishment of an Enrollment Planning Working Group to monitor data and proactively address enrollment challenges, among other accomplishments.
Since joining the campus community in 1994, Turk has served as Director of the Speech-Language & Hearing Center; coordinated the Deaf Studies Program; developed and launched the online post-baccalaureate in communication disorders; served as Associate Dean in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences; and taught courses as a faculty member and served as Chair of the Department of Communication Disorders.
She was named Registrar in 2018 after a competitive national search, providing leadership and direction in helping the Office of Records & Registration support students, faculty and staff on campus through careful maintenance of permanent academic records and schedules of classes.
Turk holds a Doctor of Audiology degree from Arizona School of Health Sciences, a Master of Science degree in Audiology from Brooklyn College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Disorders and Education, also from Brooklyn College.
