Guidance on hiring American Sign Language interpreters for campus events and activities

SUNY New Paltz has updated the process by which American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters are hired for translation services for campus events and other activities. All requests will be completed by individual departments on an as-needed basis.

Moving forward, please use the attached instructions for hiring of interpreters for events, which are also available on the Deaf Studies minor website, the Communication Disorders website, and the Disability Resource Center website as well as the Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion office.

Included in the instructions for the new process are recommended vendors with detailed information on how to fill out the request form for each vendor.

Please be aware that the requester and event organizer will be the point of contact for the coordination of services.

Any questions should be directed to Deaf Studies Coordinator and Instructor Victoria St. George at stgeorgv@newpaltz.edu or (845) 257-3466 and Communication Disorders Administrative Assistant Allie Frascati at frascata1@newpaltz.edu or (845) 257-3620.
