EOP to honor its best and brightest at 2023 XAE induction

The Educational Opportunity Program at the State University of New York New Paltz will host the 19th Annual Chi Alpha Epsilon (XAE) Induction Ceremony on May 3 on 3 p.m. at Lecture Center 100, which will recognize the academic achievements of 33 EOP undergraduates.

Delivering the keynote address is EOP alumnus Dr. Emmanuel Peña ’02 (Biology), a board-certified pediatrician who serves as the medical director of the Tallahassee Child Protection Team and a pediatric/neonatal hospitalist at Wyoming Medical Center.

Dr. Peña will also be receiving an honorary induction into New Paltz’s XAE chapter, alongside Mathematics Adjunct Faculty Member and longtime EOP Math Tutor Ramon Prusak.

This year’s ceremony will also recognize 19 students that have earned an upgrade distinction.  These are students who have continued to excel academically and also deserve recognition.

About Chi Alpha EpsilonXAE was formed in 1989 as a national honor society recognizing the academic achievements of students admitted to colleges and universities through opportunity programs. The society has grown to include more than 125 chapters in the years since.

New Paltz chartered the Beta Omicron Chapter of the XAE and inducted its first 72 members in 2003. It bears the distinction of having inducted the largest number of students for a chartering induction.
