New shipping contract with FedEx: Here’s what faculty and staff need to know

The College has a new shipping contract with FedEx/Ground, and Mail Services is making some small adjustments to their processes to make the transition as smooth as possible for the campus community.

Effective immediately, Mail Services is creating shipping labels through FedEx/Ground.

If you or your department/office needs to ship from campus, here are a few things to keep in mind following our switch to FedEx:

Dropping off at Mail Services: For faculty and staff, this aspect of the process will not change; Please just bring your parcels to Mail Services (ground floor of Haggerty Administration Building), and we can help create a shipping label for you.

Using Your Own FedEx Shipping Labels: Mail Services can also provide FedEx shipping labels for use by faculty and staff. This is a good option if you need to ship after work hours and want to use a FedEx drop location. Mail Services can provide guidance on how to fill out the shipping labels if you choose to go this route.

If your department/office wants to drop off their own package to a drop location after work hours, they can pick up shipping supplies from us and that includes shipping labels. We will guide them through how to fill out the shipping labels when they come down to get them.

On-time Shipping: FedEx/Ground picks up from Mail Services around 10 a.m. every day. To guarantee that your parcel is shipped on a certain day, please drop it off at Mail Services by the afternoon of the day before your ship date. We may be able to process same-day drop offs received before 9:30 a.m.

UPS Labels: Mail Services will still accept packages that have prepaid UPS labels. However, if your department/office has unused UPS Next Day Air labels, please do not use these. If you are working with a company that asks you to use UPS, and is providing you with their UPS account number, we can process that UPS shipment.

International Shipping: At this time, contracted rates apply only to shipments in the U.S. and Canada. If you need to ship to another country, please get in touch with Mail Services for guidance.
