Brockport’s Second Half Shooting Defeats Hawks

BROCKPORT, NY– The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team fell to the Golden Eagles of Brockport Saturday evening, 80-63.The Hawks fall to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in the SUNYAC and Brockport improves to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in SUNYAC play.

Sophomore Shereef Taylor led the Hawks with a double-double contributing 21 points, two assists, and 13 rebounds and sophomore Jayquan Anderson added 18 points and five rebounds.Sophomore Harris Wichard and freshman Matt Devine each tallied eight rebounds a piece.

The Golden Eagles had five players score in the double digits.Gerald Williams led his team scoring 14 points and had three rebounds, teammate Jermaine Johnson chipped in with 13 points and had seven rebounds, and three steals.

After the first half New Paltz was tied with Brockport at 36-36.Both teams answered right back, up and down the floor.

Brockport’s shooting caught fire in the second half and the Hawks were outscored 44-27, making it a final score of 80-63.Brockport was 7 for 12 behind the arc, shooting 58%.

The Hawks return to the court Tuesday, January 12th when they travel to Cortland, tip off is set for 8:00 PM.
