NEW PALTZ, NY-The New Paltz men’s basketball team is coming off a 82-77 victory over rival Cortland State Tuesday night and are playing strong.The Hawks as a team rank 23rd in field goal percentage in the nation at 49.4% and 31st in points per game at 80.7.They are averaging 16.9 assists a game which ranks 24th in the nation.
Senior guard Oppong Aygemang leads the nation in assists with 9.0 per game and is 10th with a 3.27 assists-turnover ratio.
Sophomore guard Harris Wichard ranks 16th in three-point field goal percentage at 45.5% and sophomore forward Jayquan Anderson ranks 10th with a 65.7% field goal percentage.Sophomore guard Shereef Taylor is 17th in the nation with 2.9 steals per game.
