Brockport Blanks Hawks 2-0 in Women’s Soccer

BROCKPORT, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team dropped their third straight game 2-0 to the Golden Eagles from Brockport.  The Hawks have dropped four of five and are winless in six games.

Natalie Gregorski netted her first goal of the season on a header off a pass from Jessica VanAllen in the 12th minute.  Three minutes later, VanAllen had an opportunity to extend the lead but her shot was cleared off the goal line by defender Emily Buckner.  Brockport went into the half with a 1-0 advantage and held an 11-1 shot advantage.

In the 49th minute, VanAllen ripped a shot towards the goal, but Stephanie Vega made a diving save and knocked the ball away.  Jessica Bush was there though to gather the rebound and scored from eight yards out for the 2-0 lead.

The Hawks had an opportunity in the 65th minute when Patti Bowling crossed the ball from the left side and the ball rolled across the front of the goal but no one was able to get a touch on it.

Erin Asquith recorded the victory in net, saving one on the evening.  Brockport improves to 6-1-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the SUNYAC.

Stephanie Vega recorded the loss in net, tying her career-high with 12 saves.  New Paltz falls to 3-5-3 overall and 0-3-1 in the SUNYAC.  The Hawks return to the field tomorrow against Geneseo at 1 p.m. on the campus of SUNY Geneseo.
