Women’s Tennis Sweeps Plattsburgh, 9-0

PLATTSBURGH, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis swept the Cardinals of Plattsburgh in the season opener, 9-0.

The Hawks swept the doubles as junior Stephanie Schara (Huntington/Kellenberg Memorial) and freshman Lindsey Garyn (Melville/Half Hollow Hills East) opened the match with an 8-3 win in the first doubles.  In the second doubles, Freshman Montana Wilson (Hopewell Junction/John Jay) and freshman Kayla DiPaulo (Liverpool) won 8-5 and in the third doubles seniors Lyndsey Lovinger (Miller Place) and Kerri Serkes (Massapequa) won 8-2.

 1st singles: Stephanie Schara (NP) def. Rachel Hodnett (P) 6-4, 6-3

2nd singles: Montana Wilson (NP) def. Katelyn Rogers (P) 6-1, 6-0

3rd singles:  Lindsey Garyn (NP) def. Victoria Germano (P) 6-1, 6-0

4th singles:  Lyndsey Lovinger (NP) def. Kristen Casse (P) 6-0, 6-0

5th singles:  Ingrid Maryansky (NP) def. Jessica Paquette (P) 6-1, 6-1

6th singles:  Alexandria Esposito (NP) def.  Brie Ernst (P) 6-0, 6-0

Doubles:

 1st doubles:  Schara/Garyn (NP) def. Hodnett/Rogers (P) 8-3

2nd doubles:  Wilson/DiPaulo (NP) def. Ernst/Paquette (P) 8-5

3rd doubles:  Lovinger/Serkes (NP) def. Paull/Rich (P) 8-2

The Hawks return to the court tomorrow in the RPI Tournament.
