Vega Named SUNYAC Player-of-the-Week

NEW PALTZ, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team is off to a great start since falling to Ramapo, 1-0 to open the season.  The Hawks have giving up one goal during their five game (3-0-2) unbeaten streak.

Freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Vega (Oceanside/Baldwin) has earned SUNYAC Player-of-the-Week for September 14th.  Vega earned her first career win and shutout against King’s College in the University of Rochester Flower City Classic.  Her lone goal allowed this year came against U of R in the championship game, as the Hawks tied 1-1 with the Yellowjackets.

This past week, she posted three straight shutouts against cross town rival Vassar on Wednesday and shutout Salem State and Wellesley College in the Wellesley Invitational September 12th and 13th.  She has a record of 3-0-2 this season and has a goals against average of 0.18 with a .970 save percentage.
