Hawks Make It Six in a Row

NEW PALTZ, NY- The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team finished up the Hawk Invitation with a 2-0 recorded on day two.  For the sixth time in a row, the Hawks have won their tournament.  In the morning, the Hawks defeated Rutgers-Newark, 3-0 by the scores of 25-7, 25-10, 25-8.

Dana Vosilla and Kelly Lavender led the Hawks with seven kills a piece and Kelsey Garmendia handed out 28 assists.  Melinda DiGiovanna had six aces and Priska Wilson had 14 digs to lead the Hawks to the victory.

In the second game, the Hawks defeated Johnson & Wales University, 3-0 by the scores of 25-21, 25-22, 25-21.  All-Tournament Team player Stephanie Skrobach led the Hawks with 11 kills, ten digs and three aces.  Stephanie Bova handed out 33 assists and Wilson led the Hawks with 16 digs.

Brittany Coyle was named the tournament’s most valuable player as the Hawks have won seven straight games to improve to 9-4 overall.  The Hawks return to the court Friday and Saturday for SUNYAC Pool-Play at Oneonta.
