Cross Country First at Bard Invitational

RED HOOK, NY- The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s cross country teams won the Bard Invitational, Saturday afternoon.

On the men’s side, the Hawks had four runners in the top ten led by Joe Gentsch who won his third race of the year with a time 25.55, 13 seconds fast than second place.  Robert Grazier, Shawn Gannon and Jeffery Raab finished sixth, seventh and ninth to led the Hawks to the victory.  Greg Hanusch rounded out the top five runners for the Hawks in 18th position.

On the women’s side, the Hawks had ten runners finish in the top 25 and seven in the top 15.  Danielle Harmon won her second race of the year with a time of 20:14, which was 16 seconds faster than second place.  Chanelle Santilli and Lisa Cassaro finished third and fourth with Nichole Wischoff finishing in the eighth position for the Hawks to round out the top ten.  Sara Wegner rounded out the top five runners for the Hawks with an 11th place finish with a time of 21:37.

The Hawks return to racing on October 3rd at the Lehigh Invitational.  The race is set to begin at 11 a.m.
