New Paltz men’s soccer defeats Potsdam, 1-0
POTSDAM, NY- The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team defeated SUNY Potsdam, 1-0 Saturday afternoon.
The teams played to a scoreless first half.
Evan Martel (West Sayville, NY/Sayville) scored the game winning goal in the 81st minute unassisted for the 1-0 victory over SUNY Potsdam.
It was a very physical game between the teams with a combined 31 fouls and five yellow cards issued.
Patrick Carlucci (Goshen, NY/Goshen) tallied four saves and his first shut out of the season in the win for the Hawks. SUNY New Paltz improves to 5-7-2 overall and 2-5 in SUNYAC competition.
SUNY New Paltz returns to the field Saturday at 1 p.m. against Morrisville State College on the SUNY New Paltz campus.
