Carlucci tallies a career high in saves in tie against Oneonta  

NEW PALTZ, NY- The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team tied 0-0 with Oneonta Wednesday evening. Patrick Carlucci (Goshen, NY/Goshen) tallied a career high 16 saves in net for the Hawks.

In the 42nd minute, Oneonta’s Evan Jedynak ripped a shot, but Carlucci made a diving save to keep the game tied.

In the 44th minute, Oneonta’s Tim Sagasti received a through ball and tried to beat Carlucci, but he made a sliding save to keep the game at 0-0.

In the 48th minute, James Altadonna (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa) got a through ball and was one on one with the goalie. The goalie made a sliding save to knock the ball away and keep the game tied.

Seven minutes later the Hawks threatened again when Lucas Natel (Mineola, NY/Mineola) flicked the ball to Evan Martel (West Sayville, NY/Sayville) who ripped a shot and the Red Dragons goalie made a save to maintain a scoreless game.

In the 82nd minute, Oneonta’s Jedynak sent a through ball to Jonathan Kowalski and Carlucci made another sliding save to keep the game at zero.

With just under four minutes to go, Red Dragons Jedynak was one on one with Carlucci, but Carlucci made yet another great save to force an overtime session.

Carlucci made a career high 16 saves in net and the Hawks improve to 6-7-3 overall and 3-5-1 in SUNYAC competition.

Maxwell Siegelman made seven saves in net and Oneonta improves to 9-5-2 overall and 5-3-1 in SUNYAC competition.

SUNY New Paltz returns to the field Saturday at Oswego, game time set for 1 p.m.
