SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer stays unbeaten with win

NEWARK, NJ- The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team stays unbeaten with a 3-1 win over Rutgers-Newark in the Scarlet Raider Soccer Classic.

The Hawks opened the scoring just six minutes and ten seconds into the contest when Joe Emberger (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) passed to Tommy Garafola (Richmond Hill, NY/St. Francis Prep) who found James Altadonna (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) for the goal to beat the goalkeeper to his right for the 1-0 lead.

In the 44th minute, the Hawks struck again when Anton Shipman (Howard Beach, NY/Molloy) sent a through ball to Lucus Natel (Mineola, NY/Mineola) to send Natel on a break-way for the goal to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead.

The Hawks extended their lead to 3-0 when Altdonna crossed the ball to Sean Reminick (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) for the goal.

Rutgers-Newark recorded a goal in the 89th minute when Bernardo Valle (West Orange, NJ) found Christien Vlahinich (Montvale, NJ) for the header to beat the goalkeeper. 

Patrick Carlucci (Goshen, NY/Goshen) tallied eight saves for the win and New Paltz improves to 2-0-2 overall.

Kyle Perdelwitz (West Orange, NJ) tallied two saves in the loss and Rutgers-Newark falls to 2-2 overall.
