Tennis Drops Tough 4-5 Decision to Stevens

NEW PALTZ, NY — The women’s tennis team hosted Stevens Institute of Technology this afternoon and fell to the Ducks 5-4. Dana Lim and Eri Yamakawa posted the only win in doubles for the Hawks as they combined to win first doubles 9-7. Sophomores Liz Beirne and Lyndsey Lovinger lost a hard fought battle at the number two flight 8-9. At No. 3 doubles, Stephanie Schara and Kerri Serkes lost 8-2.
New Paltz claimed three of the six singles matches, led by Yamakawa with a win at No. 3, 6-3, 0-6, 6-2. Serkes cruised to a win in fifth singles 6-1, 6-0 and Schara won at sixth singles 6-2, 6-1.
New Paltz returns to action this weekend when they travel to Union on Saturday.
